Tea Salon & Tea with Angela are currently hosted at MuYèh Tea Room in the Yongkang Street neighborhood of Taipei, a 5 minute walk from MRT Dongmen on the Red Line.Yongkang Street is a major tourist destination in the center of the city known for restaurants and boutiques featuring clothes, tea, antiques, souvenirs, and skincare products.I recommend booking lunch or dinner nearby before/after your tea session followed by a walk through neighboring Da'An Park.
I only offer English tastings at this time because this is the language in which I am most capable of expressing tea and flavor concepts.
A tea tasting is a sensory experience that may overlap with the artistic and philosophical practice of tea. In Chinese, this is 品茶. Oftentimes, tea tasting is erroneously translated to "tea ceremony" in English.I conduct gongfu-style tea tastings which encompasses a variety of traditional Chinese tea preparation methods.
Gongfu tea brewing uses smaller vessels with larger tea-to-water ratios compared to the large pot, long steep methodology of Western-style brewing. The tea is meant to evolve and unfurl its flavors, textures, and aromas across multiple (sometimes >20!) brews. This allows drinkers to perceive and assess the nuanced characteristics of the tea.
I produce baked goods such as crackers, cookies, scones, and cakes. They are often sweet and sometimes savory. All are custom recipes designed to pair with teas.Additionally, I partner with some tea farmers to make custom powdered tea for my recipes. They are drinking grade tea, so you may notice they taste different from tea-flavored desserts you get at bakeries.Occasionally, I will provide local specialty snacks like dried fruits, biscuits, candies.
Since I do not work in a commercial kitchen space, I cannot guarantee 100% allergen-free production--therefore I will do my best to source appropriate snacks where possible and reasonable.

Hiya, this is Angela! I'm from NYC where a local tea association jumpstarted my interest in gongfu tea.Since moving to Taipei in 2021, I learned Chinese to speak with farmers and tea vendors, enabling me to source interesting and unusual teas that are often reserved for the domestic market.I've since traveled around the country and learned a lot about tea production in Taiwan (even assisting in a few harvests).Tea Salon is my love letter to Taiwan. I hope to share the experience and understanding of Taiwanese tea with others so more people can cherish the unique qualities of this small but mighty tea region.

I introduce teas by way of sensorial engagement and guided tastings much like how I used to guide chocolate tastings in a previous life :). In my sessions, I hope you learn something new about tea, engage your body’s sensory abilities, and make a new friend.

When I'm not doing tea things, I bake bread, host cooking events, and manage logistics for my gravel bike brand.
