Tea Salon
What is Tea Salon?
Tea Salon is my dream tea experience: one where cool folks meet, share ideas, and synergize with new friends over curated brews of gongfu tea paired with small-batch handmade snacks in a gorgeous plant-filled, sunny private tea studio in Yongkang Street.A typical Tea Salon participant is someone with an inherent curiosity about flavor and a desire to share a moment in time with others. Each themed session is designed to be informative and encourage social exchange and peer learning. We discuss history/provenance/production of the tea we taste and train our sensorial awareness (sight, smell, taste, texture) of it.

FAQs
Do you offer tastings in other languages?
I only offer English tastings at this time because this is the language in which I am most capable of expressing tea and flavor concepts.
Is a tea tasting the same as a tea ceremony?
No, they are not the same.A tea ceremony is a formalized tea activity performed as part of a ritual, which is often spiritual or religious in nature.A tea tasting is a sensory experience that may overlap with the artistic and philosophical practice of tea. Oftentimes, tea tasting is erroneously translated to "tea ceremony" in English.
Do you offer tea ceremonies?
No, I do not practice any of the Chinese ceremonial forms of tea. However, I do practice gongfu tea which encompasses a variety of traditional Chinese tea preparation methods.
How is gongfu tea different from Western-style tea?
The simplest way to describe this is gongfu tea uses smaller vessels with much larger tea-to-water ratios compared to the large pot, long steep methodology of Western-style brewing. The tea is meant to evolve and unfurl its flavors, textures, and aromas across multiple (sometimes >20!) brews. This allows drinkers to perceive and assess the nuanced characteristics of the tea.
What kinds of snacks do you provide?
I produce baked goods such as crackers, cookies, scones, and cakes. They are often sweet and sometimes savory. All are custom recipes designed to pair with specific teas.Occasionally, I will also provide local specialty snacks like dried fruits, biscuits, candies. Again, all selections are designed to pair with specific teas.
Can you accommodate my dietary/allergy restrictions?
Since I do not work in a commercial kitchen space, I cannot guarantee 100% allergen-free production--therefore I will do my best to source appropriate snacks where possible and reasonable.
Is my deposit refundable?
The following is the current refund policy as of January 03, 2025.
At least 7 days before: You are eligible for a 100% refund, minus transfer fees, if any.
3-7 days before: You are eligible for a 50% refund, minus transfer fees, if any.
Less than 3 days before: Your deposit is not refundable.

About Me
🗽🇺🇸 >> 🇹🇼
I'm from NYC where I started drinking tea with local tasting clubs. Since moving to Taipei in 2021, I learned Chinese mostly to speak with local farmers and tea vendors. I've since traveled around the country and learned a lot more about tea production in Taiwan (and even assisted in a few harvests).
👁️ 👃🏻 👄
I enjoy introducing tea by way of sensorial engagement and guided tastings much like how I used to guide chocolate tastings in a previous life :). In my sessions, I hope you learn something new about tea, engage your body’s sensory abilities, and make a new friend.

When I'm not doing tea things, I bake bread, host home-cooking meals, and manage logistics for my gravel bike brand.
